Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Inspect and Repair Wiring
  • Tools Required: Multimeter, wire strippers, electrical tape
  • Inspect the wiring harness connected to the fuel level sensor for any visible damage.
  • Use a multimeter to check continuity in the wires from the fuel level sensor to the instrument cluster.
  • Repair any damaged wires using wire strippers and electrical tape.
3. Replace Fuel Level Sensor (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, fuel line disconnect tool
  • Remove the rear seat or access panel to reach the fuel pump assembly.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector from the fuel pump assembly.
  • Remove the retaining ring and lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
  • Replace the fuel level sensor within the assembly if it was found defective.
  • Reinstall the fuel pump assembly, ensuring all connections are secure and the retaining ring is torqued to manufacturer's specifications.
4. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
  • Turn the ignition to the "On" position (without starting the engine) and observe the fuel gauge for proper operation.
