Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Needed: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension bar, ratchet, dielectric grease, and a clean rag.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before beginning work.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover fasteners and use the appropriate socket to remove them.
  • Gently lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from each ignition coil by pulling the locking tab and gently pulling the connector off.
  • Use the socket wrench to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
  • Carefully pull each ignition coil out of its respective cylinder head.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use the spark plug socket attached to the extension bar to carefully unscrew and remove each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect the condition of the old spark plugs for any abnormal wear.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to ensure smooth installation.
  • Hand-tighten each new spark plug into the cylinder head, then use the torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 23 Nm or 17 ft-lbs).
  • Ensure that the new spark plugs are seated properly.
6. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place each ignition coil back into its corresponding cylinder and secure it with the bolts removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil, ensuring a firm connection.
7. Replace Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Position the engine cover back on and secure it with the previously removed fasteners.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is secure.
