Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for replacing the oxygen sensor.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely to avoid burns.
2. Access the Oxygen Sensor
  • Locate the oxygen sensor, typically found on the exhaust manifold or downstream in the exhaust system.
  • Raise the vehicle securely using jack stands if necessary to access the sensor easily.
3. Remove the Old Oxygen Sensor
  • Disconnect the electrical connector of the oxygen sensor by pressing the tab and pulling it apart.
  • Use an oxygen sensor socket or a wrench to unscrew the sensor counterclockwise from its mounting location.
4. Install the New Oxygen Sensor
  • Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new oxygen sensor (if not pre-applied).
  • Screw the new oxygen sensor into the exhaust manifold or pipe by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Tighten the sensor using the oxygen sensor socket or wrench to the manufacturer's specified torque (usually around 30 Nm or 22 lb-ft).
5. Reconnect Electrical Connector
  • Connect the electrical connector to the new oxygen sensor until it clicks into place.
6. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery securely.
