Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Fuel pressure gauge
    • Pliers
    • Screwdriver set
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shocks.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Raise the vehicle securely on jack stands.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion by pulling up, exposing the fuel pump access cover.
  • Unscrew the access cover using a socket or screwdriver.
3. Remove the Old Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Using pliers, disconnect the fuel lines from the pump, being cautious of residual fuel.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring securing the fuel pump in place.
  • Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the fuel tank.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  • Place the new fuel pump assembly into the tank, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Secure the pump with the retaining ring, tightening it to manufacturer specifications (typically around 5-10 Nm).
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector ensuring a tight fit.
5. Reassemble the Vehicle
  • Replace the access cover and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Test the Fuel Pump
  • Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine to prime the fuel system.
  • Check for leaks around the fuel pump connections.
  • Start the engine and monitor fuel pressure with the fuel pressure gauge.
