Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, transmission fluid pump, multimeter, floor jack, jack stands, drip pan.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure with jack stands. Disconnect the battery.
2. Fluid Change and Filter Replacement
  1. Drain the Transmission Fluid

    • Place a drip pan underneath the transmission pan.
    • Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket set and carefully lower the pan to drain the fluid.
  2. Inspect and Clean

    • Inspect the transmission pan for debris or metal shavings.
    • Clean the pan thoroughly with solvent to remove old gasket material.
  3. Replace the Filter

    • Remove the old transmission filter by unfastening any retaining clips or screws.
    • Install the new transmission filter, ensuring it is seated properly.
  4. Reinstall the Transmission Pan

    • Place a new gasket on the transmission pan.
    • Reinstall the pan and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications (usually around 8-10 Nm, but verify with the service manual).
  5. Refill Transmission Fluid

    • Use a transmission fluid pump to refill with the appropriate type and amount of transmission fluid (check the owner’s manual for specifications).
    • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, then check the fluid level with the transmission dipstick.
3. Test the Transmission Solenoids
  1. Remove the Transmission Control Module (TCM)

    • Disconnect electrical connectors and remove the TCM from its mounting.
  2. Test Solenoids

    • Use a multimeter to check the resistance of each solenoid against specifications provided in the service manual.
    • Replace any solenoids that are out of spec.
  3. Reinstall the TCM

    • Secure the TCM back in place and reconnect all electrical connectors.
