Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Access Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat cushion (if applicable) to access the fuel pump access cover.
  • Unscrew the access cover and disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the pump, using a rag to catch any residual fuel.
3. Remove Fuel Pump
  • Unscrew the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump in place.
  • Gently lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, taking care not to damage the float arm.
  • Inspect the old pump for any visible signs of damage or wear.
4. Install New Fuel Pump
  • Position the new fuel pump assembly into the tank, ensuring the float arm is correctly aligned.
  • Secure the assembly by tightening the retaining ring to manufacturer specifications (typically around 20 Nm).
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector, ensuring a secure fit.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the fuel pump access cover and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion if applicable.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Reinstall the fuel pump fuse and turn the ignition to the ON position to pressurize the fuel system.
