Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting work.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues.
2. Identify and Repair the Leak

A. Coolant Reservoir Replacement

  1. Remove any covers or components obstructing access.
  2. Disconnect the hoses from the coolant reservoir.
  3. Unbolt the reservoir from its mount.
  4. Install the new coolant reservoir and reconnect the hoses.
  5. Tighten all connections securely to prevent future leaks.

B. Radiator and Hose Replacement

  1. Drain the coolant from the radiator using a drain pan.
  2. Unclamp and remove the hoses from the radiator.
  3. Remove the radiator mounting bolts and lift out the radiator.
  4. Install the new radiator, bolting it securely in place.
  5. Reattach the hoses and secure them with clamps.

C. Water Pump and Thermostat Replacement

  1. Drain the coolant from the system.
  2. Remove the drive belt from the water pump pulley.
  3. Unbolt the water pump and remove it from the engine.
  4. Replace the water pump with a new one and torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  5. Remove the thermostat housing, replace the thermostat, and reinstall the housing.
3. Refill and Bleed the Cooling System
  1. Refill the cooling system with the proper type of coolant.
  2. Start the engine and allow it to idle with the radiator cap off to purge air from the system.
  3. Monitor the temperature gauge and top off coolant as necessary.
  4. Replace the radiator cap once the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
