Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket set to remove the screws securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the engine cover and set it aside.
3. Access Knock Sensor
  • Locate the knock sensor, which is typically situated on the engine block or cylinder head.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor by pressing the release tab and pulling it off carefully.
4. Remove Knock Sensor
  • Use the appropriate socket or wrench to remove the knock sensor from its mounting location.
  • Inspect the mounting area for debris and clean it if necessary.
5. Install New Knock Sensor
  • Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-ring of the new knock sensor.
  • Install the new sensor in the same position as the old one and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually between 15-20 Nm).
6. Reconnect Electrical Connector
  • Reattach the electrical connector to the new knock sensor until it clicks into place.
7. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with the screws removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
