Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts, and ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, funnel
  • Remove the oil fill cap.
  • Use the dipstick to confirm the oil level. If low, add the appropriate oil type (consult owner's manual for specifications).
  • Replace the oil fill cap securely.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil drain pan
  • Place an oil drain pan underneath the oil filter.
  • Using an oil filter wrench, remove the old oil filter. Allow oil to drain completely.
  • Lubricate the rubber O-ring on the new oil filter with fresh oil.
  • Install the new oil filter and tighten to manufacturer’s specifications (usually hand-tight plus 3/4 turn).
4. Inspect and Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench
  • Locate the oil pressure sending unit (typically near the oil filter).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sending unit using a socket.
  • Install the new oil pressure sending unit and torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Test Oil Pressure
  • Tools Required: Mechanical oil pressure gauge
  • Remove the oil pressure sending unit and install the mechanical gauge.
  • Start the engine and monitor oil pressure. It should be within the specified range (refer to the service manual).
  • If pressure is low, the issue may be with the oil pump or internal engine components.
6. Reassemble and Clean Up
  • If all checks are within specifications, reassemble any removed components.
  • Dispose of old oil and filter properly.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
