Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, fluid pump, drain pan, OBD-II scanner
  • Safety Warnings: Disconnect the battery before working on electrical systems. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted.
2. Differential Fluid Change
  1. Drain Old Fluid

    • Place a drain pan under the differential.
    • Remove the drain plug using a socket.
    • Allow the fluid to fully drain.
  2. Inspect Drain Plug

    • Check the magnet on the drain plug for metal shavings, indicating wear.
    • Clean the plug and reinstall it with a new crush washer.
  3. Fill with New Fluid

    • Use a fluid pump to fill the differential with the recommended fluid until it begins to seep from the fill hole.
    • Replace the fill plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
3. Replace Worn Components
  1. Remove Differential (if necessary)

    • Remove the driveshaft bolts and disconnect the driveshaft from the differential.
    • Support the differential with a jack and remove the mounting bolts.
    • Carefully lower the differential.
  2. Inspect and Replace Components

    • Check the differential bushings and bearings for wear. Replace if necessary.
    • Inspect the driveshaft and CV joints; replace damaged components.
  3. Reinstall Differential

    • Lift the differential back into position.
    • Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
    • Reconnect the driveshaft and torque the bolts.
