Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during the repair process.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls.
2. Access Fuel Pump
  • Remove the rear seat cushion to access the fuel pump access panel.
  • Unscrew the access panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
  • Carefully detach the fuel lines from the pump, using a line removal tool if necessary.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel pump in place and remove the pump assembly from the tank.
4. Inspect and Replace
  • Inspect the fuel pump for any visible damage or wear.
  • If necessary, install a new fuel pump by reversing the removal steps:
    • Place the new pump into the tank and secure it with the retaining ring.
    • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall the access panel and rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the battery and replace the fuel pump fuse.
  • Turn the ignition to the ON position to prime the system and check for leaks.
