Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather required tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and engage the parking brake.
  • Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels for added safety.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle as needed.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a lug wrench, loosen and remove the wheel nuts.
  • Take off the wheel to access the brake caliper.
4. Inspect and Service the Caliper
  • If leaking:
    1. Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
    2. Carefully detach the caliper from the bracket.
    3. Replace the caliper if damage is found or if seals are leaking.
  • If sticking:
    1. Clean the caliper slides with brake cleaner and a wire brush.
    2. Lubricate the caliper slides with high-temperature brake grease.
  • If replacing brake pads:
    1. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    2. Compress the caliper piston using a brake caliper tool to fit new pads.
    3. Install new brake pads, ensuring proper orientation.
5. Reassemble and Bleed the Brakes
  • Reattach the caliper and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 25-35 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque the lug nuts in a star pattern.
  • Bleed the brake system using a brake bleeder kit to remove any air from the lines.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground using the jack.
  • Remove wheel chocks and double-check all connections.
