Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Safety gear: gloves and goggles.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheel to access the brake components.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspection:
    • Remove the brake caliper bolts using a socket wrench.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor.
    • Inspect the brake pads for wear; if they are less than 3mm thick, replace them.
  • Replacement:
    • Remove the worn brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Install new brake pads, ensuring they are properly seated.
    • Apply anti-squeal lubricant to the back of the pads if required.
5. Check and Clean Brake Rotors
  • Inspect the brake rotors for scoring or uneven wear.
  • If damaged, replace the rotors; otherwise, clean them using a brake cleaner and a clean cloth to remove dust and debris.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads and rotor.
  • Secure the caliper with the previously removed bolts, tightening to the manufacturer's torque specifications (typically around 30-35 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts, tightening in a star pattern.
7. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
8. Test Brakes
  • Press the brake pedal a few times to seat the pads against the rotor.
  • Check for any noises or issues during initial braking.
