Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Replace Air Filter
  • Locate the air filter housing.
  • Remove the air filter cover by unscrewing the clamps or clips.
  • Take out the old air filter and replace it with a new one.
  • Reassemble the air filter housing and ensure it is sealed properly.
3. Inspect and Clean Throttle Body
  • Remove the intake duct connected to the throttle body.
  • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the inside of the throttle body.
  • Ensure the throttle plate moves freely and is not sticking.
  • Reattach the intake duct securely.
4. Replace Spark Plugs and Ignition Coils
  • Remove the ignition coil cover if applicable.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness from each ignition coil.
  • Remove the ignition coils using a socket wrench.
  • Replace old spark plugs with new ones, ensuring correct gap specifications (typically around 0.028 inches for BMW).
  • Install new ignition coils and reconnect the wiring harness.
5. Check Fuel System
  • Use a fuel pressure gauge to check the fuel pressure at the rail (should be within manufacturer specifications, usually around 50-60 psi).
  • If pressure is low, inspect the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel injectors for clogs or failures.
  • Replace any faulty components as necessary.
