Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Remove Headlight Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver
    1. Open the hood and locate the headlight assembly mounting bolts.
    2. Using the socket set, carefully remove the bolts securing the headlight assembly.
    3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the headlight assembly.
    4. Gently pull the headlight assembly out from its housing.
3. Clean Headlight Lenses
  • Tools Required: Headlight restoration kit or sandpaper (1000 and 2000 grit), polishing compound
    1. Clean the headlight lens surfaces with soap and water to remove dirt and debris.
    2. Use 1000 grit sandpaper to sand the foggy areas in a circular motion. Keep the surface wet.
    3. Follow up with 2000 grit sandpaper to smooth the lens.
    4. Apply a headlight restoration compound or polish, buffing it in with a clean microfiber cloth until clear.
4. Inspect and Replace Seals
  • Tools Required: Replacement seals (if needed)
    1. Inspect the rubber seals around the headlight assembly for cracks or deterioration.
    2. If damaged, replace seals with new ones to ensure a tight fit and prevent moisture ingress.
5. Reinstall Headlight Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdriver
    1. Connect the wiring harness back to the headlight assembly.
    2. Carefully position the headlight assembly back into its housing.
    3. Secure it with the mounting bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer’s specifications.
    4. Reconnect the battery after installation is complete.
