Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts before starting the procedure.
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Fuel line removal tool
    • Torque wrench
    • OBD-II scanner (for diagnostics)
  • Parts Required:
    • New fuel filter
    • New fuel line O-rings (if applicable)
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
    • Disconnect the battery before starting work on the fuel system.
2. Relieve Fuel System Pressure
  • Locate the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box and remove it.
  • Start the engine and let it run until it stalls, which will relieve the fuel pressure in the lines.
  • Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Access the Fuel Filter
  • Depending on the model, the fuel filter may be located under the vehicle or in the engine compartment.
  • If under the vehicle, raise the car using jack stands and remove the undercarriage covers if necessary.
4. Remove the Old Fuel Filter
  • Use the fuel line removal tool to disconnect the fuel lines from the filter. Be prepared for some fuel spillage; have a rag ready.
  • Unbolt the fuel filter from its mounting bracket using a socket set.
5. Install the New Fuel Filter
  • Position the new fuel filter in the same orientation as the old one.
  • Bolt the new filter to the mounting bracket using the torque specifications provided in the service manual.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines securely to the new filter, ensuring O-rings are seated correctly to prevent leaks.
6. Reassemble and Test
  • Reinstall any undercarriage covers removed earlier.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Replace the fuel pump fuse.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position (without starting) to prime the fuel system and check for leaks around the filter.
