Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to raise the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which wheel bearings are being serviced.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a tire iron to loosen the lug nuts.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take the wheel off.
4. Remove the Brake Components
  • Remove the brake caliper by unbolting it and securing it away from the rotor (do not let it hang by the brake line).
  • Take off the brake rotor by removing the retaining screws, if present.
5. Remove the Wheel Hub Assembly
  • Disconnect any ABS sensor wiring if applicable.
  • Remove the axle nut using a socket and breaker bar.
  • Unbolt the wheel hub assembly from the steering knuckle and pull it away from the vehicle.
6. Install New Wheel Bearing
  • Clean the mating surfaces on the hub and knuckle.
  • Press or tap the new wheel bearing into the hub assembly if not pre-assembled.
  • Reinstall the wheel hub assembly back into the steering knuckle.
7. Reassemble Components
  • Reattach the brake rotor and secure it with the retaining screws.
  • Reinstall the brake caliper and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and tighten the lug nuts in a criss-cross pattern.
8. Lower the Vehicle
  • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
