Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove the Throttle Pedal Assembly
  • Remove the trim covering the throttle pedal by unscrewing or unclipping it.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle pedal.
  • Unbolt the throttle pedal assembly from its mounting points using a socket set (typically 10mm).
  • Carefully remove the throttle pedal assembly from its position.
3. Inspect and Clean
  • Examine the throttle pedal assembly for wear or damage; replace if necessary.
  • If the throttle position sensor is faulty, replace it by unbolting it, disconnecting the wiring harness, and installing a new sensor.
  • Clean any dirt or debris from the throttle body and surrounding areas using throttle body cleaner.
4. Reinstall the Throttle Pedal Assembly
  • Position the throttle pedal assembly back into place and secure it with bolts, tightening to manufacturer specifications (typically around 10-12 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector ensuring a secure fit.
  • Reattach the trim cover over the throttle pedal.
5. Reset the ECU
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition key to the ON position (do not start the engine) and allow the ECU to reset for a few minutes.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes to re-learn throttle positions.
