Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.
2. Raise Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which brakes are making noise.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Keep lug nuts in a safe place for reinstallation.
4. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Inspect Pads: Check the thickness. If less than 3mm, replace.
  • Remove Caliper: Unbolt the caliper using the appropriate socket.
  • Remove Pads: Slide out old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install New Pads: Insert new pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Inspect and Resurface/Replace Rotors
  • Check Rotor Condition: Measure thickness; if below specifications or if warped, replace or resurface.
  • Remove Rotor: If replacing, unbolt the rotor from the hub.
  • Install New Rotor: Position the new rotor and bolt it securely to the hub.
6. Reassemble
  • Reinstall Caliper: Place the caliper back over the new pads and secure it with bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications (typically around 25-30 Nm).
  • Reattach Wheel: Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower Vehicle: Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle.
7. Final Checks
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s torque specification (usually around 100-120 Nm).
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure pads seat correctly.
