Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical issues.
2. Remove the Brake Pedal Assembly
  • Remove the lower dash panel to access the brake pedal assembly.
  • Use a socket set to remove the nuts/bolts securing the brake pedal to the assembly.
  • Disconnect any electrical connections or switches associated with the brake pedal.
  • Carefully pull the brake pedal assembly out from its mount.
3. Inspect and Clean Components
  • Examine the brake pedal pivot point for any signs of rust or debris.
  • Clean the pivot with a wire brush and apply a suitable lubricant to ensure smooth operation.
  • Check the brake light switch for proper function and replace if necessary.
4. Replace Master Cylinder (if necessary)
  • If the master cylinder is found to be defective, remove the brake lines using a flare wrench to prevent damage.
  • Remove the mounting bolts for the master cylinder and pull it out.
  • Install the new master cylinder and tighten the mounting bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the brake lines and ensure there are no leaks.
5. Reassemble and Reconnect
  • Reinstall the brake pedal assembly in reverse order of removal.
  • Reconnect all electrical connections and ensure they are secured.
  • Reinstall the lower dash panel.
6. Bleed the Brake System
  • Using a brake bleeder kit, bleed the brakes to remove any air from the system. Start from the furthest brake from the master cylinder.
  • Ensure the brake fluid reservoir is filled to the correct level throughout the bleeding process.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set
  • Flare wrench
  • Wire brush
  • Lubricant
  • Brake bleeder kit
  • OBD-II scanner

Parts Required:

  • Brake pedal assembly (if damaged)
  • Brake master cylinder (if defective)
