Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench, tie rod end puller, grease, steering wheel puller (if necessary).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely with jack stands.
  • Remove the front wheels to access the tie rod ends.
3. Remove Tie Rod Ends
  • Loosen the Nut: Use the appropriate socket to loosen the nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Do not remove it completely yet.
  • Separate the Tie Rod End: Use a tie rod end puller to disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle. This prevents damage to components during removal.
  • Remove the Tie Rod End: Once separated, remove the nut completely and take out the tie rod end from the steering rack.
4. Install New Tie Rod Ends
  • Prepare New Tie Rod Ends: Apply grease to the new tie rod ends if required.
  • Install the New Tie Rod End: Insert the new tie rod end into the steering rack and secure it with the nut. Use a torque wrench to tighten it to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 30-40 Nm, but refer to service manual).
  • Reconnect to Steering Knuckle: Reattach the tie rod end to the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut. Tighten to specification.
5. Alignment
  • After installation, perform a wheel alignment to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
