Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, transmission fluid catch pan, fluid pump, clean rags.
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Drain and Remove Transmission Pan
  • Place a transmission fluid catch pan under the transmission.
  • Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan using a socket set.
  • Carefully lower the pan to drain the fluid. Dispose of the old fluid properly.
3. Inspect and Replace Gasket
  • Remove the old gasket from the transmission pan and the mating surface on the transmission.
  • Clean the surfaces thoroughly using a gasket scraper and solvent to remove any residue.
  • Install a new gasket on the transmission pan.
4. Reinstall Transmission Pan
  • Position the transmission pan back onto the transmission with the new gasket in place.
  • Hand-tighten the pan bolts in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 8-10 Nm).
5. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the fill plug on the transmission and remove it.
  • Using a fluid pump, refill the transmission with the appropriate type and amount of fluid (consult the owner's manual for specifications).
  • Replace the fill plug securely.
6. Test for Leaks
  • Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.
  • Shift through the gears to circulate the fluid.
  • Inspect the transmission pan and surrounding areas for any signs of leaks.
