Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: jack and jack stands, lug wrench, caliper, and torque wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off.
  • Safety Warning: Always use jack stands when lifting the vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is securely supported before working underneath.
2. Wheel Removal
  • Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and securely place it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel.
3. Brake Pad Inspection
  • Locate the brake caliper and inspect its mounting and condition.
  • Remove the caliper bolts using the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor without disconnecting the brake line.
  • Inspect the brake pads for thickness and wear patterns. Measure the thickness with a caliper.
4. Brake Pad Replacement (if necessary)
  • If uneven wear is found, replace the brake pads:
    • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    • Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads to reduce noise.
    • Install the new pads into the caliper bracket.
5. Reassemble
  • Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads.
  • Reinstall the caliper bolts and torque to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and use a torque wrench to tighten lug nuts to the specified torque.
