Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: brake fluid (DOT 4), wrench set, brake bleeder kit, container for old fluid, funnel, and safety gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is off.
2. Locate the Brake Fluid Reservoir
  • Open the hood and locate the brake fluid reservoir, typically found near the back of the engine bay.
  • Clean the area around the reservoir cap to prevent contamination.
3. Check Fluid Condition
  • Remove the reservoir cap and visually inspect the brake fluid. It should be clear or slightly yellow.
  • If the fluid is dark or contains debris, it needs to be replaced.
4. Replace Brake Fluid
  • Drain Old Fluid:

    1. Use a brake bleeder kit connected to the brake caliper bleeder screw.
    2. Have an assistant pump the brake pedal while you open the bleeder screw to allow old fluid to escape into the container.
    3. Repeat this process for each brake caliper until clear fluid runs out.
  • Refill Reservoir:

    1. Use a funnel to pour new brake fluid (DOT 4) into the reservoir until it reaches the MAX line.
    2. Replace the reservoir cap securely.
5. Bleed the Brakes
  • Starting from the wheel furthest from the master cylinder (usually the passenger rear):
    1. Open the bleeder screw and allow fluid to flow until no air bubbles are present.
    2. Tighten the screw and move to the next wheel, following the sequence: passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front.
6. Final Check
  • Check the brake pedal feel; it should be firm.
  • Inspect for leaks around the reservoir and bleeder screws after bleeding.
