Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Oil filter wrench
    • Oil catch pan
    • UV dye kit (if necessary)
  • Gather necessary replacement parts based on diagnostic findings.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place an oil catch pan under the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench.
  • Allow the oil to completely drain into the pan.
3. Replace Oil Filter (if applicable)
  • Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  • Apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter, tightening it by hand until secure.
4. Replace Gaskets or Seals
  • Oil Pan Gasket Replacement:

    • Remove the oil pan bolts using a socket wrench.
    • Carefully pry the oil pan off and remove the old gasket material.
    • Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly.
    • Install the new gasket and reattach the oil pan, torqueing the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Valve Cover Gasket Replacement:

    • Remove the valve cover bolts and carefully lift off the valve cover.
    • Remove the old gasket and clean the surfaces.
    • Install the new gasket and reattach the valve cover, torqueing the bolts appropriately.
5. Reassemble and Refill Oil
  • Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and amount of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks around the newly replaced components.
