Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, oil catch pan
  • Remove the old oil filter using the oil filter wrench, ensuring to catch any spillage in the oil catch pan.
  • Apply a thin layer of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter and install it, tightening it by hand until snug.
3. Replace Gaskets/Seals
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, gasket scraper, RTV silicone sealant (if applicable)
  • Remove components that obstruct access to the leaking gaskets or seals (e.g., intake manifold, valve cover).
  • Carefully scrape off old gasket material from the mating surfaces.
  • Apply a new gasket or RTV silicone sealant as per the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Reinstall components, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the specified values.
4. Replace Oil Pan (if necessary)
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, oil catch pan, new oil pan gasket
  • Drain the engine oil completely using the oil catch pan.
  • Remove the oil pan by unscrewing the bolts holding it in place.
  • Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly and install a new gasket.
  • Reinstall the oil pan and torque bolts to specifications.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  • Pour the appropriate type and quantity of engine oil into the engine.
  • Check the oil level on the dipstick and add oil if necessary.
