Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials:
    • OBD-II scanner
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Power steering fluid
    • Clean rags
2. Check Fluid Levels
  • Open the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir.
  • Remove the cap and check the fluid level; it should be between the minimum and maximum marks.
    • If low, add the appropriate type of power steering fluid as per the owner’s manual.
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Resetting the Power Steering Assist
  1. Disconnect the Battery:
    • Use a socket wrench to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This allows the system to reset.
  2. Wait:
    • Leave the battery disconnected for approximately 10 minutes to ensure the system resets completely.
  3. Reconnect the Battery:
    • Reconnect the negative terminal and tighten it securely with the socket wrench.
  4. Turn the Steering Wheel:
    • Start the vehicle and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock (full left to full right) several times to help bleed air from the system.
  5. Check for Warning Lights:
    • Observe the dashboard for any warning lights related to the power steering. If the light remains on, further diagnostics may be required.
