Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
  • Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel filler cap and using a fuel pressure gauge.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, flathead screwdriver, T30 Torx driver.
  • Remove the rear seat cushion by pulling up on the front edge and lifting it out.
  • Locate the fuel pump access cover under the seat and remove the screws with a T30 Torx driver.
  • Carefully lift the access cover to expose the fuel pump assembly.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump by pressing the release tab.
  • Carefully detach the fuel lines, using a fuel line disconnect tool if necessary. Be prepared for some fuel spillage.
  • Unscrew the retaining ring that holds the fuel pump assembly in place using a flathead screwdriver or appropriate tool.
  • Lift the fuel pump assembly out of the tank.
4. Install New Fuel Pump
  • Remove the old fuel pump from the assembly and replace it with the new one, ensuring all seals and O-rings are in place.
  • Reinsert the fuel pump assembly into the tank, ensuring it seats properly.
  • Reinstall the retaining ring and tighten it securely.
  • Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector, ensuring they are secure.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Replace the fuel pump access cover and secure it with screws.
  • Reinstall the rear seat cushion.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Turn the ignition to the "ON" position without starting the engine to prime the fuel system, then check for leaks.
