Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts before starting the repair.
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and safety goggles.
  • Safety Warning: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels using a lug wrench.
3. Remove Brake Components
  • Remove Brake Caliper:

    • Use the socket set to remove caliper bolts.
    • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor (do not let it hang by the brake line).
  • Remove Brake Pads:

    • Remove the retaining clips or pins holding the brake pads in place.
    • Slide out the brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Remove Brake Rotor (if necessary):

    • If the rotor is to be replaced, remove any retaining screws and slide the rotor off the hub.
4. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Inspect Brake Pads and Rotors:

    • Check pads for uneven wear and replace if thickness is below manufacturer specifications.
    • Inspect rotors for grooves or warping; replace if necessary.
  • Install New Brake Pads:

    • Apply brake lubricant to the backing of the new pads.
    • Install the new pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Install New Rotor (if applicable):

    • Clean the new rotor with brake cleaner before installation.
    • Slide the rotor onto the hub and secure with screws if applicable.
5. Reassemble Brake System
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and rotor.
  • Torque caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque lug nuts in a star pattern.
6. Final Checks
  • Lower the vehicle and pump the brake pedal to seat the pads.
  • Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
