Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather the following tools and components:
    • Socket set (10mm and 12mm sockets)
    • Torque wrench
    • Spark plug socket
    • Ratchet
    • Feeler gauge
    • Anti-seize lubricant
    • New spark plugs (ensure they are the correct type for your engine)
2. Disconnect Battery
  • Use a 10mm socket to remove the negative battery terminal.
  • Ensure that the terminal is secured away from the battery post to prevent accidental reconnection.
3. Remove Engine Cover
  • Identify and remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover using a socket wrench.
  • Lift the cover off carefully and set it aside.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Locate the spark plug wires or ignition coils and carefully disconnect them.
  • Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect each spark plug for carbon buildup or wear.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  • Check the gap on each new spark plug using a feeler gauge and adjust if necessary.
  • Hand-tighten each spark plug into the cylinder head, then use the torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer’s specification (usually around 15-20 lb-ft, but confirm with the factory service manual).
6. Reconnect Ignition Coils/Wires
  • Reconnect the ignition coils or spark plug wires to their respective plugs.
  • Ensure that they are seated properly to avoid any misfires.
7. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with the screws or bolts that were previously removed.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reattach the negative battery terminal using the 10mm socket.
