Solution
1. Preparation
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle.
  • Secure with jack stands to ensure safety.
3. Inspect and Replace Worn Components
  • Sway Bar Links:

    • Remove the bolts securing the sway bar links to the sway bar and lower control arm.
    • Replace with new sway bar links and torque bolts to specifications (usually around 30-40 ft-lbs).
  • Control Arm Bushings:

    • If excessive play is found, remove the control arm by unbolting it from the subframe and the steering knuckle.
    • Press out the old bushings and press in new ones, ensuring proper seating.
  • Shock Absorbers:

    • Remove the top mount bolts of the shock absorber, and then remove the bottom bolts.
    • Replace the old shock absorber with a new one, ensuring to torque the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reattach any components removed during inspection.
  • Ensure all bolts are torqued to specifications.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and remove the hydraulic jack.
