Solution
1. Preparation
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability while working.
3. Remove Rear Wheels
  • Use a lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels for better access to the suspension components.
4. Inspect and Replace Components
  • Shocks/Struts:

    • Remove the upper mount bolts and lower bolts to detach the shock absorber from the vehicle.
    • Install new shocks/struts by reversing the removal process. Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
  • Bushings and Control Arms:

    • If bushings are worn, use a bushing removal tool to extract them from control arms.
    • Install new bushings by pressing them into place, ensuring proper alignment.
    • If control arms are damaged, replace them by removing the mounting bolts and installing new ones. Torque to specifications.
5. Reassemble
  • Reinstall the rear wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications using a torque wrench.
6. Final Inspection
  • After repairs, perform a visual inspection of all components to ensure everything is properly installed.
  • Test the suspension by bouncing the rear of the vehicle to check for any remaining noise.
