Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Ratchet and socket set, torque wrench, spark plug gap tool, dielectric grease, compressed air (optional).
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate and remove any screws or clips securing the engine cover.
  • Lift the engine cover off carefully and set it aside.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use the ratchet and socket to loosen and remove the spark plug wires or ignition coils (if applicable).
  • Carefully remove the spark plug boots, taking care not to damage them.
  • Using the ratchet and socket, unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
4. Inspect and Prepare New Spark Plugs
  • Compare the old spark plugs with new ones to ensure proper size and type.
  • Check and adjust the gap of the new spark plugs to the manufacturer's specifications (typically between 0.028 and 0.032 inches).
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the spark plug boots.
5. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Carefully thread each new spark plug into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer's specified torque (usually around 13-15 lb-ft).
  • Reinstall the spark plug wires or ignition coils, ensuring they are seated properly.
6. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with screws or clips.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
