Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for shock replacement.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the parking brake is engaged.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Using a jack, raise the front or rear of the vehicle as needed.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
3. Remove Old Shocks
  • Front Shocks:
    • Remove the wheel using a lug wrench.
    • Unscrew the top mount bolts of the shock absorber using a socket set.
    • Remove the lower bolts from the shock using the appropriate socket.
  • Rear Shocks:
    • Remove the wheel using a lug wrench.
    • Unscrew the upper bolts under the rear deck or in the wheel well.
    • Remove the lower bolts from the shock.
4. Install New Shocks
  • Position the new shock absorber in place.
  • Attach the lower mounting bolt first; torque to the manufacturer’s specifications (refer to repair manual).
  • Secure the upper mount bolts, ensuring they are properly tightened as per specifications.
5. Reassemble Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and torque lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and repeat for the other side if necessary.
