Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools: jack, lug wrench, tire pressure gauge, and spare tire.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat, stable surface and turn on the hazard lights.
  • Apply the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from moving.
2. Loosen Lug Nuts
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire while the tire is still on the ground.
  • Turn the lug nuts counterclockwise to loosen them, but do not remove them completely yet.
3. Lift the Vehicle
  • Position the jack under the vehicle at the specified jacking point (consult owner's manual).
  • Pump the jack to raise the vehicle until the flat tire is off the ground.
4. Remove Flat Tire
  • Finish unscrewing and removing the loosened lug nuts with the lug wrench.
  • Carefully remove the flat tire from the wheel hub and set it aside.
5. Install Spare Tire
  • Align the spare tire with the wheel hub and slide it onto the hub.
  • Hand-tighten the lug nuts onto the wheel studs to secure the spare tire.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground by releasing the jack.
  • Once the vehicle is on the ground, fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure an even fit.
7. Check Tire Pressure
  • Use a tire pressure gauge to check the pressure of the spare tire and adjust it to the recommended PSI, if necessary.
8. Store Tools and Flat Tire
  • Place the flat tire, jack, and lug wrench back in the vehicle.
  • Ensure that the flat tire is secured to prevent movement while driving.
