Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Screwdrivers
    • Timing belt tool kit (if available)
    • Pliers
    • Oil catch pan
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Use a socket set to remove any plastic engine covers that obstruct access to the timing belt area.
  • Carefully set aside the removed covers in a safe location.
3. Drain Engine Oil
  • Place an oil catch pan beneath the oil pan.
  • Remove the oil drain plug using a socket wrench and allow the engine oil to fully drain.
  • Replace the drain plug once the oil has drained.
4. Remove the Timing Belt Cover
  • Remove any bolts securing the timing belt cover using a socket wrench.
  • Carefully detach the cover, ensuring not to damage any gaskets or seals.
5. Remove the Old Timing Belt
  • Rotate the crankshaft to align the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
  • Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the tensioner.
  • Carefully slide the timing belt off the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets.
  • Inspect the tensioner and pulleys for wear; replace if necessary.
6. Install the New Timing Belt
  • Position the new timing belt according to the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft.
  • Install the tensioner and apply the manufacturer's recommended torque.
  • Manually rotate the crankshaft two full revolutions and recheck the timing marks to ensure correct alignment.
7. Reassemble Components
  • Replace the timing belt cover and secure it with bolts.
  • Refill the engine with new oil using the manufacturer-recommended type.
  • Reattach any engine covers removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and listen for any unusual noises. Ensure the engine runs smoothly.
