Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the emergency brake is engaged.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves.
2. Gather Tools and Parts
  • Tools Required:

    • Jack and jack stands
    • Lug wrench
    • Socket set
    • Brake caliper tool or C-clamp
    • Torque wrench
    • Brake cleaner
    • Clean rags
    • Bungee cord or rope (to hang caliper)
  • Parts Required:

    • New brake pads
    • Brake grease (anti-squeal lubricant)
3. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  2. Use the jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Fully remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
4. Remove Brake Caliper
  1. Locate the brake caliper bolts and remove them using the socket set.
  2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Do not let it hang by the brake line; use a bungee cord to support it if necessary.
5. Replace Brake Pads
  1. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  2. Use the brake caliper tool or C-clamp to compress the caliper piston back into the caliper housing.
  3. Clean the caliper bracket and apply brake grease to the contact points of the new pads.
  4. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
6. Reinstall Brake Caliper
  1. Slide the caliper back over the new brake pads and rotor.
  2. Reinstall and torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 25-35 Nm).
7. Reinstall Wheel
  1. Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and onto the ground.
  3. Fully tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
8. Final Steps
  • Pump the brake pedal several times to ensure proper brake pad seating.
  • Check brake fluid levels and top off if necessary.
