Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:

    • Fuel pressure gauge
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Screwdriver set
    • Pliers
    • Safety glasses
    • Clean rags
  • Steps:

    1. Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
    2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks.
    3. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls, indicating pressure is released.
2. Access the Fuel Pump
  1. Remove the rear seat to access the fuel pump access panel.
  2. Remove the access panel screws with a screwdriver and lift the panel to expose the fuel pump assembly.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
3. Remove the Fuel Pump
  1. Use a socket to unscrew the retaining ring holding the fuel pump in place.
  2. Carefully lift the fuel pump assembly out of the fuel tank, ensuring the fuel gauge sender unit remains attached.
  3. Disconnect the fuel lines from the pump, using pliers to squeeze any retaining clips if necessary.
4. Install the New Fuel Pump
  1. Compare the old fuel pump with the new one to ensure compatibility.
  2. Connect the fuel lines to the new fuel pump securely.
  3. Lower the new fuel pump assembly into the tank and align it properly.
  4. Replace the retaining ring and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 30 Nm, but check a service manual for your specific vehicle).
5. Reassemble and Test
  1. Reconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump.
  2. Replace the access panel and secure it with screws.
  3. Reinstall the rear seat.
  4. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  5. Turn the ignition to "ON" to prime the fuel system, then check for leaks around the fuel pump area.
