Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, brake cleaner, torque wrench, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Safely park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves for protection.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use the lug wrench to slightly loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels (do not remove).
  • Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the front wheels.
3. Inspect and Remove Brake Components
  • Brake Pads

    • Inspect the brake pads for thickness; replace if below manufacturer’s specifications (generally less than 3mm).
    • Remove the caliper bolts using the socket set and slide the caliper off the rotor. Support the caliper with a bungee cord to avoid stress on the brake line.
  • Brake Rotors

    • Check the rotor surface for any scoring or grooves. If damaged, remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if applicable) and pulling it off the hub.
4. Clean and Replace
  • Cleaning

    • Use brake cleaner to thoroughly clean the rotors and caliper assembly.
    • Ensure all debris is removed, especially from the caliper brackets.
  • Replacement

    • Install new brake pads in the caliper bracket. Ensure the pads are properly seated.
    • If the rotors were removed, install new or resurfaced rotors, ensuring they are seated properly against the hub.
5. Reassemble and Torque
  • Reattach the caliper over the new brake pads and torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically about 25 Nm).
  • Reinstall the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 120 Nm).
6. Final Check
  • Press the brake pedal several times to seat the brake pads.
  • Check the brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
