Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench, socket set, brake pad spreader.
  • Safely lift the vehicle and remove the wheel to access the brake components.
2. Remove Brake Pads
  • Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  • Locate the caliper bolts and use the socket set to remove them.
  • Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor. Support it to avoid stress on the brake line.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
3. Inspect and Clean Components
  • Inspect the brake rotor for scoring or damage. If damaged, consider resurfacing or replacing it.
  • Clean the rotor surface and caliper bracket with brake cleaner.
  • Check the caliper for proper operation and ensure it is not sticking.
4. Install New Brake Pads
  • Apply a thin layer of brake grease on the back of the new brake pads to prevent noise.
  • Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  • Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and secure it with the caliper bolts. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
5. Reassemble and Test
  • Reattach the wheel and torque the lug nuts to specification.
  • Lower the vehicle and perform a test drive to check the brake function and noise.
