Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Flathead screwdriver
    • Torx socket set (T20 or T25, depending on the fasteners)
    • Cleaning brush
    • Rags or paper towels
    • Throttle body cleaner
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
    • Allow the engine to cool before starting work.
2. Remove the Air Intake Hose
  • Locate the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and carefully remove the hose from the throttle body.
3. Remove the Throttle Body
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the release tab and pulling it out.
  • Use the appropriate Torx socket to remove the bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body off the manifold, ensuring no debris falls into the intake.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean rag or paper towel.
  • Use a cleaning brush if necessary to scrub the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and surrounding areas where carbon buildup is present.
  • Wipe the surfaces clean with a fresh rag until no residue remains.
5. Reinstall the Throttle Body
  • Place the cleaned throttle body back onto the intake manifold, ensuring the gasket is properly aligned.
  • Reinstall the bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer's torque specifications (typically around 10-15 Nm).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector to the throttle body.
6. Reinstall the Air Intake Hose
  • Attach the air intake hose back to the throttle body.
  • Secure it with the hose clamp, ensuring a tight fit.
7. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal to restore power to the vehicle.
