Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, timing belt kit, screwdrivers, engine support bar, coolant drain pan.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool before starting the work.
2. Remove Engine Covers
  • Remove the plastic engine cover by unscrewing any bolts or clips securing it.
  • Take off the accessory drive belt by loosening the tensioner and sliding the belt off the pulleys.
3. Drain Coolant
  • Place a coolant drain pan under the radiator.
  • Open the drain valve on the radiator and allow the coolant to drain completely.
4. Remove Timing Belt Components
  • Timing Belt Tensioner: Remove the bolts securing the tensioner and carefully take it off.
  • Timing Belt: Mark the position of the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys for reference. Loosen the bolts securing the pulleys and remove them. Slide the old timing belt off.
5. Install New Timing Belt
  • Ensure all timing marks are aligned correctly on the pulleys.
  • Slide the new timing belt over the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys, ensuring it is seated properly.
  • Reinstall the timing belt tensioner and adjust to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the timing cover, ensuring all bolts are torqued to the specified values.
  • Reattach the accessory drive belt and ensure proper tension.
  • Replace the engine cover.
7. Refill Coolant
  • Close the radiator drain valve.
  • Refill the radiator with new coolant, ensuring there are no leaks.
8. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the battery terminals securely.
