Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool to avoid burns.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

Tools Required:

  • Socket set (including 10mm and 16mm sockets)
  • Spark plug socket (usually 5/8” or 16mm)
  • Torque wrench
  • Extension bar
  • Ratchet
  • Pliers
  • Clean rag

Parts Required:

  • New spark plugs (OEM recommended)
  • Anti-seize lubricant (optional)
  • Dielectric grease (optional)
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Access Spark Plugs
  • Locate the ignition coils above the spark plugs.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors of each ignition coil by pressing the release tab and pulling off the connector.
4. Remove Ignition Coils
  • Use a socket to remove the bolts securing each ignition coil.
  • Gently pull the ignition coils straight out of the spark plug wells.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket to carefully unscrew and remove each old spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Inspect old spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge; adjust if necessary according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of each new spark plug if desired.
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand, then torque to the manufacturer’s specification (usually around 22 lb-ft or 30 Nm).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of each ignition coil boot (optional).
  • Reinsert each ignition coil into its respective position and secure with bolts.
  • Reconnect the electrical connectors to each ignition coil.
8. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Position the engine cover back and secure it with bolts.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reattach the negative terminal of the battery.
