Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench
  • Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Gather necessary tools and replacement parts.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts on the wheels where struts will be replaced.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.
3. Remove Old Struts
  • Locate the strut assembly and identify the mounting bolts at the top and bottom.
  • Using the socket set, remove the bolts securing the strut at the top mount inside the engine bay or trunk.
  • At the bottom, remove the bolts connecting the strut to the steering knuckle.
  • Carefully pull the strut assembly out of its mount.
4. Install New Struts
  • Position the new strut assembly in place, ensuring it aligns with the mounting holes.
  • Secure the bottom of the strut to the steering knuckle using the bolts, and torque them to the manufacturer specifications (usually around 50-60 ft-lbs).
  • Reattach the top mount of the strut in the engine bay or trunk, again torquing the bolts to the specified value.
5. Reassemble the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels, hand-tightening the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 80-90 ft-lbs).
  • Remove jack stands and safely lower the jack.
