Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan, funnel, clean rags, gloves
  • Ensure you have the correct replacement oil filter and fresh engine oil as per manufacturer specifications.
2. Drain Engine Oil
  1. Locate the oil drain plug under the vehicle.
  2. Using a socket wrench, remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to fully drain into the oil catch pan.
  3. Replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 22 ft-lbs).
3. Remove Old Oil Filter
  1. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the old oil filter counterclockwise.
  2. Carefully remove the oil filter and ensure the rubber O-ring comes off with it.
  3. Dispose of the old oil filter properly and clean any spills with rags.
4. Install New Oil Filter
  1. Before installing the new oil filter, apply a thin layer of fresh engine oil to the rubber O-ring on the new filter.
  2. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine by hand until snug, then tighten an additional 3/4 turn.
5. Refill Engine Oil
  1. Open the engine oil filler cap located on top of the engine.
  2. Using a funnel, pour the new engine oil into the filler neck, ensuring to use the correct type and amount as specified in the owner's manual (typically around 5-6 quarts for this model).
  3. Replace the oil filler cap securely.
