Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on electrical components.
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, dielectric grease.
  • Remove the engine cover if applicable.
  • Using a spark plug socket, unscrew and remove the old spark plugs.
  • Inspect the old spark plugs for wear or fouling.
  • Install new spark plugs, applying dielectric grease to the threads.
  • Torque the spark plugs to manufacturer specifications (typically around 22 ft-lbs).
3. Clean Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, clean rags, screwdriver.
  • Remove the air intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a rag and wipe the throttle plate and interior of the throttle body.
  • Ensure no residue or cleaner enters the intake manifold.
  • Reattach the air intake hose securely.
4. Inspect and Clean Idle Air Control Valve
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver, throttle body cleaner, clean rags.
  • Locate the IAC valve, usually mounted near the throttle body.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the IAC valve.
  • Clean the valve using throttle body cleaner and a rag, ensuring it moves freely.
  • Reinstall the IAC valve and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Check and Replace Air Filter
  • Tools Required: None (usually hand tools).
  • Open the air filter housing.
  • Remove and inspect the air filter for dirt and debris.
  • Replace the air filter with a new one if it is excessively dirty or clogged.
  • Ensure the housing is closed properly after replacement.
