Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack and jack stands, socket set, torque wrench, grease gun, safety glasses.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the ignition is off.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheel using a socket wrench.
  • Lift the vehicle with a jack and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel to access the tie rod ends.
3. Remove Tie Rod End
  • Locate the tie rod end connected to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the nut securing the tie rod end to the steering knuckle.
  • Use a tie rod end puller to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
  • If necessary, tap the knuckle with a hammer to loosen the tie rod end.
4. Install New Tie Rod End
  • Apply a small amount of grease to the new tie rod end’s threads.
  • Insert the new tie rod end into the steering knuckle and secure it with the nut.
  • Torque the nut to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 30-45 ft-lbs).
5. Reattach Wheel
  • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications (usually 76-83 ft-lbs).
6. Alignment Check
  • It is recommended to have a professional alignment performed after replacing tie rod ends to ensure proper steering geometry.
