Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, jack and jack stands, brake line flaring tool, brake fluid, tubing cutter, and safety goggles.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and properly secured with jack stands.
    • Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from brake fluid.
2. Remove the Damaged Brake Line
  • Locate the leaking section of the brake line.
  • Use a tubing cutter to carefully cut out the damaged section of the brake line.
  • Remove any fittings and brackets that secure the line in place using the appropriate wrenches.
3. Install New Brake Line
  • Using the brake line flaring tool, create a flare on the ends of the new brake line where fittings will be attached.
  • Route the new brake line in the same path as the old one, ensuring it is secure with brackets and does not come into contact with any hot or moving components.
  • Attach the new line to the fittings and tighten securely without over-torquing.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Refill the brake fluid reservoir with the manufacturer-recommended brake fluid.
  • Begin bleeding the brakes by having an assistant pump the brake pedal and hold it down while you open the bleeder valve on the farthest brake caliper from the master cylinder.
  • Close the valve before your assistant releases the pedal. Repeat this process until no air bubbles are present in the fluid.
  • Ensure all brake calipers are bled and the fluid is at the appropriate level in the reservoir.
