Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, jack and jack stands, torque wrench, socket set, screwdrivers, transmission fluid catch pan.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is off. Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Drain Transmission Fluid
  • Place a catch pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the drain plug (if applicable) or loosen the transmission pan bolts to allow fluid to drain.
  • Dispose of the old fluid according to local regulations.
3. Remove Transmission Pan
  • Remove the remaining bolts from the transmission pan.
  • Carefully lower the pan to avoid spilling.
  • Clean the pan and magnet inside of any debris or metal shavings.
4. Remove Torque Converter
  • Unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate (ensure the engine is supported).
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors and fluid lines attached to the torque converter.
  • Carefully remove the torque converter from the transmission.
5. Install New Torque Converter
  • Install the new torque converter into the transmission, ensuring it is fully seated.
  • Reattach any electrical connectors and fluid lines.
  • Bolt the torque converter to the flex plate securely.
6. Reassemble Transmission Pan
  • Place a new gasket on the transmission pan.
  • Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten bolts to manufacturer specifications using a torque wrench.
7. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Fill the transmission with the appropriate type and amount of fluid as specified in the owner's manual.
8. Test the System
  • Reconnect the battery and start the engine.
  • Check for leaks and ensure proper operation of the transmission.
