Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: brake fluid tester, clean cloth, new brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4 as specified in the owner's manual), funnel, and gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is off.
2. Check Brake Fluid Condition
  • Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  • Use a clean cloth to wipe the reservoir area to prevent contamination.
  • Visually inspect the fluid; if it appears dark or contaminated, it needs changing.
3. Test Brake Fluid Moisture Content
  • Insert the brake fluid tester into the reservoir, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Read the moisture content; if it exceeds 3%, the fluid should be changed.
4. Drain Old Brake Fluid
  • Open the bleeder valves on each brake caliper, starting from the farthest from the master cylinder (usually the rear passenger side).
  • Have an assistant press the brake pedal while you open the bleeder, allowing old fluid to drain into a container.
  • Repeat for each caliper, ensuring no air is introduced into the system.
5. Fill with New Brake Fluid
  • Using a funnel, fill the brake fluid reservoir with new brake fluid until it reaches the maximum level.
  • Close the reservoir cap securely.
6. Bleed Brake System
  • Have an assistant press the brake pedal and hold it down.
  • Open each bleeder valve in the sequence (rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, front driver) until fresh fluid flows out without bubbles.
  • Close the valve and have the assistant release the brake pedal.
  • Repeat until all brakes are bled and feel firm.
7. Final Inspection
  • Check the fluid level in the reservoir again and top off if necessary.
  • Inspect for any leaks around the brake lines and calipers.
